MySundayPhoto – A Sunday walk, fresh air, and a little bit of Imagination

There is nothing like fresh air, a family walk, and a little bit of imagination. I look forward to our family walks all week… It gives an opportunity to chat, catch up on the week gone by, and just enjoy each other’s company without iPads and TVs to distract us. Β It has been so very cold this week and babyS has been feeling a little under the weather, so with a free day today, we wrapped up, donned the Wellington boots, warm clothes, and headed out to the woods…whatever the weather.

We decided to head out to Delamere Forest – a particular favourite of ours. Β The Gruffalo trail is currently at the forest and is a 1.5mile walk which is just about manageable for little legs. We set off early, parked Otis, had a quick cup of tea and headed off to find the little brown mouse.. the snake.. the fox…the gruffalo and any other animal or creature we could find.

The girls however had other ideas – armed with their fairy wings, tutus, bubbles and buckets of imagination, they went off on their way to spy any little people hiding in those trees………

Baby S seemed to really enjoy the fresh air πŸ™‚ We ended our day stopping by for a Sunday roast in a particular favourite restaurant of ours..before heading home to put our feet up with a hot chocolate.

We hope that you have enjoyed your weekend:)

I started reading this post and it sounded like me! I am just the same, when we don’t have visitors staying in mid winter and can claim a family weekend I love to gather my family for a country walk. Persuading tens and tweens to leave technology for a few hours is always a bribe, but even they admit to having a wonderful time once they are out. Seeing your lovely photos all dressed up as fairies reminds me of easier outing when they were young. These are such precious times, make the most of them all. Your photos are gorgeous and tell of the most idyllic time. Well done the Forestry Commission and the Gruffalo, it is a great way to incentivise a country walk.

Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

Ha ha! I’m still laughing… We stumbled across your website via #ThePlacesWeWillGoLinky and have now realised that we are not the only ones to name our blog after our Volkswagen T5 van :o) Great minds, and all that!

And we, too, love to just get outside whatever the weather and have a mini-adventure (occasionally dressed as a ballerina, fairy, knight or whatever else takes the kids’ fancy). It looks like you had a wonderful family Sunday.

Greetings from Otis from her Luxembourgish cousin, Daisy!
