A Weekend stay at Cameron Lodges
Sitting on the balcony of our apartment at Cameron Lodges, I looked out to the calm and still waters of Loch Lomond…it was so very peaceful and so very quiet. All I could hear was the sound of the birds tweeting. It was cloudy, yet warm, and we were up and about and ready for the day. today we were heading out to explore Loch Lomond and enjoy the Celtic Warrior cruise.
There are so many activities available at Cameron Lodges, from boat trips, cruises, seaplane adventures, biking and golf… to name just a few. We chose the Celtic Warrior cruise during our long weekend break, hoping it would be an activity that would suit the varied age ranges of the Otis and Us tribe. We headed over to the marina, where we met our skipper and hopped on board the Celtic Warrior.

I have to say, if you are heading to Cameron Lodges, this is a beautiful way to explore the loch, find out a little more about its history and enjoy the scenery, fresh air and views…. oh and not forgetting the champagne… that went down a treat (champagne at 10am is fine right !?:)
The kids loved the views and exploring the map. The youngest sat still for all of five minutes (but thankfully enough time for me to drink my champagne!). We headed to the top deck and I loved that on this occasion we had it all to ourselves, to enjoy each other’s company, the beautiful scenery, wildlife and stunning colours of Loch Lomond. Oh -and I may have chased after a very lively 18 month old, who equally enjoyed the freedom and space – but we won’t go into that 🙂
After the cruise we headed off for a walk in the direction of Balloch. We didn’t make it as far as Balloch, as let’s just say a play park and an ice cream stop got in the way of our goal 🙂 The scenery is just spectacular and It was lovely to slow down, take a little time out and enjoy a walk in the sunshine.
With tired kids and weathered cheeks, we headed back to the Mansion house apartment, for a nap, a little time out and a late lunch. I have to say, this is why we love self catering so much; it fits in with family life, you can cook when you choose to and you are not confined to one room, hiding in the bathroom whilst the kids nap (tell me you have done that too!?)
Our afternoon at Cameron Lodges consisted of a return visit to the Enchanted Woodland, a paddle at the beach, a little scoot on the scooters and a swim at the spa…oh, and maybe a coffee or two at the Boat House…
As the sun set across the Loch, I went for an evening stroll with the youngest in the baby carrier to wander, take in the views and the changing colours of the evening sky. I got chatting to a couple at the beach…it was their first visit to Cameron Lodges and they told me it definitely won’t be their last. Sometimes you don’t realise how you need a chance to slow down and relax until you actually stop for a moment and unwind. I have to say Cameron Lodges is a truly wonderful five star resort – a real gem on the stunning Loch Lomond.
With the kids in bed, the only thing left to do was crack open a bottle of red and sit down, relax, put our feet up and watch a film on the huge flat screen tv back at the mansion house apartment……..
Our long weekend at Cameron Lodges has been a perfect family friendly break.
We made some truly wonderful family memories and for us that is priceless.
Would I return!?
