We love any excuse to indulge. From a lovely relaxing spa day to a delicious afternoon tea. So I like to think that we have got the whole afternoon tea thing covered in Staffordshire. It has been REALLY hard work trying out all these cheese sarnies and traditional scones… but someone has to do it. The Rabbit Hole Tea Room is a family run, unique and cosy tearoom inspired by the classic Lewis Carroll tale “Alice in Wonderland”. . The wonderful Alice in Wonderland themed tearoom is perfect for families and offers a unique afternoon tea experience, with upside down clocks, giant books, beautiful themed quotes and the most beautiful mismatched teacups and teapots.

The Rabbit Hole Tea Room Afternoon tea is served on a three tiered stand and consists of sandwiches, salad, chutney, and crisps. The middle tier holds the freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream and three layer cake/ cup cake and the top tier is filled with sweets and deserts and shortbread biscuits. We came home with a take home bag for round two later!

2. Afternoon tea at The Three Horseshoes Inn

The Three Horseshoes Inn is a favourite of mine and we have recently visited for a lovely Afternoon spa experience and this included a delicious two course meal.

The traditional afternoon tea at the Three Horseshoes Country Inn and Spa does not disappoint either and I took along my beautiful mum for a treat.

You can choose a traditional afternoon tea and this includes sandwiches, a freshly baked scone with clotted cream and fruit and a selection of deserts. Plus freshly brewed tea or coffee.

Alternative you can opt for the afternoon tea with bubbles, and this is similar to the traditional afternoon tea but served with a glass of Sparkling Durello wine.

3. Afternoon tea at the Cake Shack, Whitmore

The Cake Shack at Cudmore Fisheries in Whitmore is one of our favourite hangouts for a coffee or cake. Emma is absolutely lovely and bakes the most delicious cakes.

You can get cosy inside the tea rooms next to the log burner, or soak up the sun on a picnic bench at this lovely lakeside cafe.

I added the Cake Shack to our top pick of dog friendly places to eat in Staffordshire as dogs are welcome on leads inside the café. We often visit the cake shack after a wild swimming session and recently visited after taking our paddleboards out at Whitmore Lakes.

4. Steam Train Afternoon Cream Tea at Churnet Valley Railway

If you are looking for an afternoon tea with a vintage twist then you will love the afternoon cream tea experience at Churnet Vallet Railway.

This afternoon tea experience departs from Froghall in Staffordshire, an combines the charm and vintage feel of 1960s first class train ride with a quintessentially English afternoon tea.

You will find unlimited hot drinks, freshly baked scones with locally sourced jam an cream, and a selection of wonderful cakes.

Parking is free at Froghall station. Children over the age of 12 are welcome on the Cream Tea Trains.

5. Luxury Afternoon tea at World of Wedgwood

We love a visit to the World of Wedgwood and it is a great day out with kids. You can visit the creative studios and throw a pot, or head over to the decorating studio to get creative with ceramics, paint and glaze!

If you fancy a luxurious afternoon tea then visit the Wedgwood Tea Room for the iconic Wedgwood Afternoon Tea. The restaurant welcomes children and offers a Little Gardeners Afternoon Tea.

Classic afternoon tea starts at £32.50 (there is a vegetarian and vegan afternoon tea option too), or your can opt for afternoon tea with Prosecco priced at £37.50.

6. Classic Afternoon Tea at the Moat House, Stafford

Grab a cup of tea in hand and a delicious cake and relax and enjoy the view by the water. Afternoon tea at the Moat House Stafford is served in our Orangery Restaurant from Thursday to Saturday.

The Moat House is a beautiful Grade II listed Manor House Hotel in the Staffordshire Countryside with its own tranquil lake. It is around 4 miles from Stafford with easy access to the M6 and a great location to book a relaxing overnight break.

Choose from a range of loose leaf teas or hand roasted coffee and a range of sandwiches and home baked scones, coated cream and jam.

7. Afternoon Tea at Whitmore Tea Rooms

Whitmore tearooms is a family run traditional English tea room located in the countryside in Whitmore, Staffordshire.

The tea room building was originally a coach house, with solid oak beams and lead lined windows it is a beautiful and quintessentially English setting to enjoy a freshly baked scone or home made cake and a pot of tea.

Traditional afternoon tea starts at £21.95 per person and consists of a selection of sandwiches, scone with Clotted Cream & Preserve and a choice of home-made cakes, plus a pot of tea or cafetiére of coffee.  Alternatively you can also have an afternoon tea with Prosecco for £25.95 per person.

8. Afternoon Tea at Emma Bridgwater Stoke on Trent

A visit to the Emma Bridgwater factory is always a favourite of ours, even though I always spend a fortune as I can’t leave without purchasing a mug or a plate! It is often on of our favourite venues to enjoy a coffee with family and friends, and even better, you can try out the Emma Bridgwater afternoon tea served on beautiful cake stands.
