You know how this T5 Camper family loves a road trip. We have really missed our camper travels over the Summer this year. It has definitely been a testing year, but we must not be defeated, and we must continue to look forward and keep dreaming that those travel days are just around the corner. France is a wonderful family friendly destination, and one of our favourite destinations that we have visited in the camper as a family. With that in mind we are always on the search for some of the best France road trip itineraries. Read on for some France road trip inspiration.
Road trip Itineraries in France
We have travelled to France many times over the last three years and absolutely love it. I find ferry travel with young kids fairly stress free, and I have a real love for France. Over the last few years we have explored Brittany, The Vendée, Dordogné and the taken a road trip down the west coast of France and into Spain. There are still so many places we would love to visit.
Original Travel has a great selection of Europe driving holidays. Here is a selection of best road trip itineraries to explore France and beyond, that are ideal for families.
This is a lovely itinerary that incorporates a little bit of everything… culture… food… and activities. This is a great option for active families who like to keep busy on holiday. The itinerary includes visiting the village of Oignt and the medieval town of Perouges, driving into the Alps for a stay in a Chamonix mountain chalet and exploring picturesque Annecy, a charming lakeside town where you can walk, bike and sail.
If you don’t want to spend too much time driving – then this may be the itinerary for you as it covers slightly less distance. This itinerary allows you to explore the beautiful beaches and charming towns of Northern France as a nine-day road trip.
Start off at Honfleur and Le Havre, and then take the road trip along the beautiful Cotentin Peninsula to Brittany. The road trip includes private tours of Honfleur, Mont Saint-Michel and Saint-Malo and a private cruise in the beautiful bay of Mont Saint-Michel.
One of our favourite regions with absolutely beautiful cities and coastlines. This is an eight day road trip to Bordeaux and the Basque Country that can be extended into Spain and Portugal for an even longer adventure, if combined with this itinerary.
Travel from Folkestone to Calais via the Eurotunnel and then explore the Basque coast with a surfing lesson before exploring the beautiful city of Bayonne with a local guide. Enjoy a cruise along the Courant d’Huchet river and a boat trip around Archachon Bay and sample the wonderful food and wine in Bordeaux.
