The Llŷn Peninsula is known for its stunning coastal scenery, charming villages, and rich history. Here are some of the best places to visit on the Llŷn Peninsula, North Wales.

Where are the best places to visit on the Llŷn Peninsula?
An area of outstanding natural beauty, the Llŷn is known as ‘Snowdon’s arm’ and is a 30 mile stretch of land with the Irish Sea on one side and Cardigan Bay on the other. We have visited North Wales year after year, with some amazing family friendly campsites in North Wales, there are so many places to explore and things to see and do on the Llŷn Peninsula!
Abersoch
Abersoch is a wonderful and popular watersports resort and holds a special place our heart. Abersoch has become a very popular village seaside resort and is a place that people return to year after year (me included!). Main beach is perfect for bathers and watersports and international sailing events are held here each year. We love to take our stand up paddle board to this beach (You can read our full SUP review here). Beach huts can be rented by the day or week. There are a number of boutique and high street shop and a large number of restaurant, bars and cafes.
Llanbedrog
Llanbedrog is a village on the Llŷn Peninsula of Gwynedd in Wales. It is situated between Abersoch and Pwllheli. Llanbedrog is one of my favourite beaches and nearby Crugan Farm is listed in our best campsites for families and just a stones throw away from Llabendrog beach.
The village is renowned for its mile-long and sheltered beach. It is also a popular destination for watersports and has a lovely cafe and beautiful beach huts. You can also stroll along the beach and stop by at the The Glyn y Weddw Arms for a drink and a bite to eat. Brings back wonderful memories.
Pwllheli
This busy coastal town is located at the entrance to the peninsula, and offers an array of restaurants shops and cafes. There is also a cinema and swimming pool for those rainy days when you need to entertain the kids. Pwllheli’s beaches have been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag Award.
We love to visit Pwllheli Marina and take a stroll around. Harfan Pwllheli is one of the finest yachting venues in Western Britain with access to some of the best sailing waters in the UK.
Criccieth
Criccieth is a town on the Llŷn Peninsula that lies around five miles from Porthmadog and nine miles from Pwllheli and around half an hour from Trefor.
It is a popular seaside resort situated on the coast at the edge of Snowdonia National Park offering an imposing castle, beaches, beautiful coastal walks and plenty of shops and cafes (and ice cream!).
Trefor
Trefor is a village on the north coast of the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, Wales. It is a traditional village with the Yr Eifl Mountain behind the village, and has its own sand and pebble beach and harbour, with stunning views of the mountains, and a post office, village shop and local pub.
Other attractions include Redline indoor karting, Welsh Highland Railway, and Beacon climbing centre. There is also an abundance of little shops, restaurants and cafes to keep you entertained during your visit.
Porthdinllaen
Porthdinllaen is a beautiful fishing village on the on the Llŷn Peninsula. Here you will find sheltered waters and beautiful sandy beaches perfect for boating, kayaking, swimming, and snorkelling.
The Ty Coch Inn has been named as one of the top ten beach bars in the world with views across the Irish Sea, and not to mention a pint with a beautiful sandy beach at your feet.
There is also a great walk from Morfa Nefyn to Porthdinllaen which is dog friendly, and takes between 1-2 hours (4km).
Aberdaron
Aberdaron is a mile long sandy bay at the end of the Llŷn Peninsula. Aberdaron is a small fishing village that has a long sandy beach, local cafes, restaurants and a sailing club. Sailing, surfing, kayaking and windsurfing are all popular on the coast and a small slipway provides easy access for speed boats.
