Christmas gift ideas for kids who love the outdoors

Gift ideas for outdoor kids

We love to spend as much time outdoors as we possibly can, filling our weekends with camper van adventures, road trips, woodland walks and days at the beach. This year has been tricky for family travel due to the ongoing travel restrictions. But we have tried to get outside as often as we can with family walks, bike rides, and outdoor exercise. There are so many wonderful outdoor activities for kids of all ages. If you are looking for ideas and inspiration for gifts for an outdoor family, then I have put together a few Christmas gift ideas for kids who love the outdoors.

Rollerskates

Our eldest is asking for rollerskates this year. She has just turned ten and I am thinking that this may just be the Christmas for rollerskates ! we love these pink  rollerskates with the gorgeous rainbow colours and we know that our eldest will also love these.

Balance bike

We purchased a balance bike a couple of years ago when our middle child was just two and it was the perfect size to throw in the camper or in the car for our weekends away. She learned to ride her bike without stabilisers at three and I put that down to the balance bike. Our balance bike has now been passed to our youngest and we are hoping he will soon be able to master his bike skills.

Wickey climbing frame (AD)

We received our Wickey Multiflyer Climbing Frame with wooden roof back in October and it has been perfect for lockdown. You can read our full Wickey climbing frame review here. The kids have wanted a climbing frame forever, and as we love anything that encourages outdoor play, time away from the tablets and fresh air, we welcomed the idea of adding some wooden play equipment to our garden space. The Multiflyer has a slide, double swing, sand pit and climbing frame. There are also lots of available add ons to choose from.

We Love Frugi kids stocking fillers

If you are looking for gifts for under £15 then these We Love Frugi water bottles are a great idea. Perfect for lunchbags, days out and family travel, the water bottles are a sustainable option to avoid the use of single plastic bottles. The bottles are made from stainless steels and is rust corrosion and stain resistant. We also love the We love Frugi snoods and socks and wonderful Frugi camper van pjs– great stocking fillers

Mud kitchen

We purchased this mud kitchen last year and it really is a child’s dream! My kids spend hours making potions and lotions and mud soup in our garden. I know it’s messy, but I also love kids to have mud on their clothes, sand in their hair and smiles on their faces. Mud kitchens are available from a number of retailers. This beautiful mud kitchen has been made for our little boy by the dad of one of my best friends. He absolutely loves it.

Apple To Pears Gifts in a tin

We have been huge fans of Apple to Pears gifts in a tin for many years. They are wonderful to take away on our camper van travels, and there are so many options for children of many ages. We have purchased the farm in a tin and zoo in a tin, and this year we have added some of the craft tins to our collection – perfect stocking fillers.

BoxWild children’s gift box

This is a lovely gift for outdoor kids. The Boxwild children’s gift box contains everything you need to get a child interested in feeding the birds. The box includes a paint your own nesting box along with two regular sized seed blends, a bird feeder and a little scoop. For more info head over to Boxwild online

Walkie Talkies

One of favourite items for our camper van travels. The kids love these walkie talkies and we love that there are three in the set. We take them camping and to the festivals, and they have been well used and are still going strong.

Microscooters

We are huge fans of Micro Scooters in our house as I find scooters make our weekend walks much more pleasurable, particularly for our younger kids who don’t always embrace the idea of a long walk. The scooters are easy to pack in a car or the camper for the weekends away and Microscooters are available for children aged 18 months plus.
