Family days out over Christmas in Staffordshire and Cheshire
I love Christmas so much. Since we have had the little ones I find it even more magical. Last year I put together this post, so this year I have updated it with some new finds. Here are a few top Christmas Events in Staffordshire and Cheshire for 2018 – handpicked by the Otis and Us tribe
Blithbury Reindeer Lodge, Staffordshire
A couple of years ago we spent Christmas Eve at Blithbury reindeer lodge in the Staffordshire countryside. Blithbury reindeer lodge is in Rugeley, in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside. It is a working farm and home to England’s largest working reindeer herd. The reindeer roam freely across the 30 acre site. During the run up to Christmas it is transformed to a winter wonderland to sprinkle a little magic and festive cheer to everyone who visits, before the big man himself sets off on his epic sleigh ride.

The Snowman Tour – Nationwide
We have enjoyed The Snowman Tour for the last three years, and it has soon become our favourite day out to introduce us to the festive period. This Christmas classic held in a number of venues across the Country, is shown on a large screen accompanied by a live orchestra. I have recently written about our trip to Liverpool Cathedral last year. The kids loved dancing away to the sound of the violins, and last year they all squealed with excitement when the big man himself (The Snowman) danced his way around the cathedral. I would definitely recommend a visit – just remember this event is a sell out – so get those tickets early.
National Forest Adventure Farm: North Pole Adventure
The National Forest Adventure Farm is situated in Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire. We had the opportunity to visit their North Pole Adventure last year and I can honestly say that this was one of my favourite Christmas events that we have visited. The attention to detail was something else, and they had thought of everything to make this a wonderful and magical adventure. With a Victorian High Street, helping the Elves in the post office, decorating gingerbread men with Mother Claus, and meeting an interactive polar bear it was a lovely and magical Christmas event for all of the family.

Santa Sleepover – Alton Towers, Staffordshire
We visited Alton Towers for their Santa Sleepover about four years ago and really enjoyed it. It involved a jam-packed couple of days of visiting the theme park, staying in a themed room at the hotel, Christmas dinner alongside a full itinerary of Christmas activities and a splash in the Waterpark.

This year we headed over to Froghall to board the Santa Express for the wonderful Santa and Steam experience at Churnet Valley Railway.
The Staffordshire heritage railway’s iconic Santa and Steam event is a wonderful concept, combining a ride on a steam train through the Staffordshire Moorlands, and a visit to see Father Christmas.
There are a variety of dates available in the run up to Christmas Day. The Santa Express departs from two stations, Froghall and Cheddleton.
