May 2017 Round-Up

May 2017 Round-Up

Wow – where are these months going?  Already I am writing up our May 2017 round-up. Time is passing so quickly, I sometimes wish I could stand and freeze time for just a second. We have been so busy lately, but I do enjoy a busy and chaotic life. I always think it’s a sign of having lots of fun. We have enjoyed some wonderful trips in Otis already this year. So much so that we missed the April round-up as we were in Scotland enjoying some quality time ‘unplugged’.

We had a really lovely time in April exploring the east coast of Scotland and spent the week at Thurston Manor in East Lothian. We were able to spend a day in Edinburgh, and enjoy a spot of sightseeing – exploring Edinburgh Castle and Camera Obscura.

We also spent a day out at Archerfield Walled Garden which was a particular favourite of ours (we ended up visiting twice. ) It had an enchanting fairy hunt and a wishing tree, full of the most beautiful colourful ribbons of wishes.

So moving on to May…Well May saw Lil_E’s 3rd birthday. 3…I still can’t quite believe where those 3 years have gone. She is our bright, happy whirlwind, and I don’t want anything or anyone to ever dull that sparkle. The kids definitely have too many ‘plastic’ toys, and I am really trying to live by the ethos of collecting ‘memories and not things’. So we thought we would enjoy a ‘raw’ and ‘organic’ glamping weekend for her birthday. It was really wonderful – we stayed in a Mongolian Yurt in Dorset and spent the weekend paddling in streams, sizzling marshmallows on the fire pit, and exploring Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

The birthday girl also requested to visit Peppa Land, so off we went to find the famous Peppa and George, enjoy the views in a balloon ride, and jump in some muddy puddles. Needless to say we had a very happy 3 year old that day.

We have been lucky enough to visit Stonehenge this month. I have to say it is somewhere I have wanted to visit for so long, have you ever visited? I was not sure if it would be appropriate for the little ones, but they LOVED it.  I remain in awe of the fact that despite all the years of research, theories and myths, its purpose, and how it got there still remains very much a mystery.

Last weekend I attended a blogging conference in Manchester. I met a few of my lovely blogging friends that I have made over the last six months, who have been so friendly and supportive as I find my way. I also got to meet a few other inspiring and fabulous bloggers, too. I took so much away with me, and I am eager to put into practice what I learned.

Finally, last week highlighted the importance of family time; it is so very precious and it can change in an instant. Family and friends mean everything to us. After school we decided to grab our beautiful Mi Abode cool bag and head to the woods to enjoy a walk and a picnic. I think we missed the bluebells this year, but the light was stunning, and we enjoyed an evening of chatter and laughter and smiles.

So there ends our April – May round-up. We are off to Pembrokeshire this week with friends, and I am hoping for dry weather, adventures, laughter and memories (and a glass of wine or two)

I am linking my round-up with Life as Our Little Family for #MyFamilyAdvenutures and Coombe Mill for #CountryKids

Enjoy your bank holiday, I hope it is happy and fun.
