The brand new Timber Festival 2018 – A family friendly festival – #GIVEAWAY

Timber Festival 2018

If you are still thinking about which festival to take the kids to during the Summer –  then keep on reading – I am going to introduce you to Timber Festival 2018.  Timber festival 2018 is a brand new festival where music, art, forests and ideas combine to ensure an exhilarating weekend in the heart of the National Forest. Timber will be held over 6th – 9th July 2018 at Feanedock, a 70 acre woodland site at the heart of the National Forest on the Leicestershire/ Derbyshire border.

If you have followed my blog for a while, you know that we love a family friendly festival. We have been huge fans of the Just So Festival in Cheshire for years, and as Timber has been created by the National Forest Company and Wild Rumpus (the guys behind the award winning Just So Festival), I have high expectations for a weekend of creativity, imagination, music and a woodland wonderland.

So what can we expect for Timber Festival 2018?

Head to Timber for the opportunity to come together to celebrate, collaborate, collude and carouse in a world of arts and crafts. You will find theatre, comedy, dance and circus treats deep in the woodland.  Timber festival will also be celebrating Black to Green, exploring how the heart of the National Forest has been transformed from coal pits to tree tops.

Adventure into an area of sound and music, rooted in the forest. Sit around the campfire and enjoy the live music on the three main stages….. Venture into the woods to be immersed in compelling sound installations, storytelling, soundscapes and DJ sets.

Enjoy the light projections, fire gardens, torchlight processions and luminous installations.  Here you can expect incredible international performances as the sun sets, and discover the unexpected as into the night the forest will be transformed by spectacular light installations.

Inspired by the six David Nash Noon Columns that reside in the National Forest, Here you will explore the atmosphere in the woods at twilight, midnight, dusk and dawn to delight in the rhythms of the day. Be transfixed by sundials, hourglasses and clocks as you pass the time.

Relax and soak in the landscape all around…….Here a woodland retreat awaits!   Drink in the forest air from the eco-spa, revel in yoga practice and other relaxation activities, contemplate the seasons and enjoy the tranquility of the environment. ( I won’t lie – I am really looking forward to trying my hand at the yoga!)

Timber is a not-for-profit festival with sustainability at its heart which will partner with other international forest festivals to share knowledge and innovations taking place in forests and transforming lives across the world.

Timber 2018 is  is located at Feanedock, a 70 acre woodland site on the Leicestershire / Derbyshire border at the heart of the National Forest.  Embracing 200 square miles of the Midlands, the National Forest is the first forest to be created at scale in England for over 1000 years. Spanning parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire, the first trees in the National Forest were planted over 25 years ago, to transform a landscape that had been left derelict by the closure of the Midlands coalfield.  The National Forest is a forest for the nation, a national asset that demonstrates a revolutionary approach to forestry, showing how well-designed woodlands can enrich the lives of people, businesses and wildlife, while helping to address climate change.
