We have put together a few of our top family friendly places to visit and things to do near St Jean de Monts in the Vendée.

Things to do near Saint-Jean-de-Monts with kids
We stayed at Clarys Plage with Canvas Holidays.
Clarys Plage is a superb holiday parc in St Jean de Monts. Saint-Jean-de-Monts is in the Vendée department and Pays de la Loire region.

Saint-Jean-de-Monts beaches
Le Clarys plage has a wonderful family friendly waterpark and is situated just 400 yards from the Plage des Mouettes.
There are some lovely beaches in the area, all walking distance or a cycle ride from our holiday parc. Here we spent many an hour in the sunshine and watched the most incredible sunsets.
Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez
The beaches in St Hilaire de Riez are probably some of my favourites. With turqoise waters, small coves, unspoiled beaches backed by rocky cliffs, we loved visiting this beautiful seaside town. Here you will also find Pointe de Grosse Terre lighthouse…well worth a visit.
Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie
Near to St Jean de Monts is the seaside resort and busy port of St-Gilles Croix de Vie.
We visited Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie a couple of times during our stay. St Jean de Monts is around 20 minutes drive away, and Grande Plage is a gorgeous beach, and surprisingly not overcrowded. There are many restaurants along the beach, a lovely play park and toilets here.
Lac d’Apremont
About 30 minutes drive from our holiday parc – Le Clarys Plage – we found Lac d’Apremont and what a gem this place is. We arrived mid morning and it was suprisingly quiet with an abundance of car parking spaces available. Lac d’Apremont has a lovely playground, beach with plenty of trees to offer shade during the Summer months and watersports including pedalo, paddle boarding and kayak hire.
Puy Du Fou
Puy du Fou is is an incredible historical theme park in Les Epesses, in the heart of the Vendée region of Western France. It is around 1hr 30 drive from Saint-Jean-de-Monts and a fabulous family friendly attraction. It is considered the second most popular theme park in France (after Disneyland). Here you will find amazing shows, incredible stunts, special effects and spectacular backdrops. The period villages are also pretty special. You can read more about Puy du Fou here.
