Dear London…

Dear London…

img_5713London. We never tire of visiting you. Your twinkling lights and elaborate shop window displays at Christmas always fill us with joy every year. Jumping on the train at the busy underground station never fails to send the girls into excited frenzies. We never tire of sitting in a busy coffee shop on Oxford street while slowly sipping a hot chocolate and devouring a gingerbread man, watching everyone rush, rush, rushing  to make it to their destinations on time. And this year it was no different.

We always visit you the weekend before Christmas – it is a family tradition. This year was even more special as it was babyS’s first visit. It was a whistle stop tour this time as it took us much longer to get from A to B with three kiddies in tow. I was so excited this year as I had booked surprise iceskating tickets at Somerset House for M. She absolutely loves iceskating -and this stunning location didn’t fail to disappoint. We got to Somerset House just after lunch, having first travelled on the tube and had a look around the wonderful shops that you have to offer, even purchasing a Christmas present or two for Mr S. When we arrived lil_E was so adamant she was also joining us on the ice – I didn’t have the heart to tell her I hadn’t bought her a ticket! So £10 down, ticket 3 purchased we donned the boots and hit the ice. Mr S found the warm seats and enjoyed a coffee while babyS snoozed. The iceskating rink was fabulous with a little section for the little ones, and an abundance of polar bears available to help the little ones skate.

Otis&us tip- pre  book your tickets as it does get busy and some times and days were sold out.

Iceskating complete we headed off to explore more.  London-  there is so much to see of you.. the river Thames… Big Ben.. Hyde park… London eye..Buckingham palace… the list is endless. We could walk around your streets all day eyeing up the beautiful buildings , exploring  the endless amount of theatre shows on offer and drinking in the culture of the big city.

Our weekend flew by  so quickly-but we had such a fun time.  London- we will be back with our double pushchair and our walking shoes very soon.  Next time maybe we will squeeze in a show. I keep promising to take M to see ‘Wicked’ or the Lion King.  Thankyou for having us!
