The Blonde Hedgehog Hotel Review
The Blonde Hedgehog is a luxury boutique Hotel on Alderney. With beautifully designed bedrooms that are spread between The Blonde Hedgehog and Clarence House, it offers a blend of charm, comfort and luxury. You can also opt to stay at the Old Corner House which is a charming three bedroom cottage and PERFECT for families or groups. A short five-minute stroll away, La Frette Farm offers an exclusive four-bedroom retreat, surrounded by Alderney’s tranquil beauty.

The Old Corner House
Just a short boat trip from the Island of Guernsey (around an hour and a half) we arrived at the Blonde Hedgehog. On check in we were taken to the Old Corner house which I have to say, is the most beautiful cottage that we have stayed, and is just opposite the Blonde Hedgehog. The Corner House is honestly just stunning. It is just a ‘stones throw’ from the hotel’s communal areas and offers space and luxury for families whilst staying on Alderney.

There is everything you need and more at the Corner House. With a cosy lounge area with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and eating area, two double bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor, and a master bedroom and ensuite on the top floor it is just perfect for families and groups. The Corner House has a fantastic outdoor entertainment space with outdoor seating on the ground floor and my favourite treat – a spacious roof terrace just off the master bedroom, that offers roof top views of the island.

There is plenty of thoughtful touches including a dog welcome pack including treats, bowls and a ball, complimentary Tea & Coffee, and complimentary Wireless Internet Access.
The Blonde Hedgehog is an 18th Century Cottage and beautifully and tastefully styled. There is a living area with a stunning fireplace and kitchen on the ground floor. Head up the stairs to two double bedrooms and a gorgeous bathroom with a freestanding bath. The top floor has a double bedroom, ensuite and rooftop terrace. The beds were so comfortable and we all had the best sleep during our stay here, so much space after living in a campervan!

Dining at the Blonde Hedgehog
Dining at the Blonde Hedgehog is out of this world. It can be busy here, therefore I do advise booking a table for lunch and supper. The restaurant is renowned for its delicious commitment to farm-to-table and sea-to-table dining. We were able to dine here for breakfast and our evening meal. The restaurant is open from 8am for breakfast, noon for lunch and 6pm for supper, bar menu served until 8pm. Tea, coffee, drinks and pastries are available all day if you wish.

We were spoilt for choice for breakfast with a menu of hot and cold options, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. A continental breakfast including a choice from the cooked a la carte menu is included with your room stay. There are plenty of delicious options for evening meals with a children’s menu and vegetarian options. And I can honestly say the food, service and atmosphere is out of this world.
I also absolutely loved the beautiful terraced garden outside- meticulously maintained, and thoughtfully and beautifully styled, perfect for alfresco dining.

Dogs at the Blonde Hedgehog Hotel
We loved that we were able to bring our golden retrievers with us to explore the island of Alderney. Dogs are welcome in The Old Corner House, Clarence House and La Frette but not in The Blonde Hedgehog rooms.
Service dogs are accepted in any rooms.

Alderney things to do
Alderney is the most incredible island and offers a sense of peace and tranquility. I had absolutely no plans and wanted to relax and just absorb every this beautiful island had to offer whilst we were here. There is so much to do from wildlife boat trips, visiting beautiful beaches, museums, fortes, and plenty of options for food and drink too. You can read more about our island hopping experience from Guernsey here. Special mention to Michelle our taxi driver who showed us around and was just so lovely and patient.
Travel changes
As I have mentioned, we had to leave Alderney very quickly due to the change in weather and arrival of a storm. Firstly everyone was incredible in notifying us and getting us off the island quickly. Fog and mist and storms can be problematic for travel to and from Alderney. Please ensure that you have adequate travel insurance to cover you in the event of cancellation. Do ensure that your travel insurance policy covers the impact of weather on a cancellation.

The Blonde Hedgehog Hotel review: Final Thoughts
If you are looking for a place to call home for your Alderney stay then this is just the perfect place to stay. It had everything you needed for a wonderful, relaxed and peaceful holiday. I loved that families were welcome and we could bring our golden retrievers too. Honestly we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here, Thanks for having us and introducing us to your beautiful island. We would return in a heartbeat!
