If you love camping, but you don’t always like the idea of pitching the tent and putting it away afterwards – then why not try one of these great UK glamping sites for families? Glamping offers an alternative way to ‘staycation’.

Glamping gets the kids away from their gadgets and out in the fresh air to splash around in the stream, build dens in the woodland areas, search for the shooting stars, and toast marshmallows on the campfire.

We love to find awesome UK camping sites for families but we also love a family glamping holiday. Here are a selection of great options for glamping holidays in the UK for families who love the outdoors.

Glamping refers to a style of camping that aims to provides a comfortable, effortless and somewhat glamorous camping experience that manages to blend the experience of being outdoors with the comforts of home.

You will often find that glamping accommodation includes luxurious furnished tents, unique yurts or secluded tree houses with real beds, and some have private bathrooms, and electricity too!

Whether you are looking for a glamping with hot tubs, coastal glamping, or glamping in the forest…there is something for everyone!

What is even better is you really won’t need to pack a huge amount. So if you are wondering what to take glamping – you really don’t need to worry.

The majority of glamping sites provide everything you need for your glamping holiday, including bedding, kitchen utensils, and even logs for the campfire! This is why so many families love glamping, it is not only luxurious and effortless but dare I say it – cool camping too!

These UK glamping sites have been tried and tested by us and have great facilities including outdoor activities on site or nearby, or play areas on site.

I have tried to include options to suit all needs including options for glamping with a hot tub, glamping near a lake, coastal glamping and glamping in the forest.

If you are looking to try glamping in Snowdonia then let me introduce you to Llechwedd Glamping – a multi award-winning adventure glamping site in Snowdonia, North Wales.

This site is set in a rugged landscape and industrial heritage and offers a unique family glamping experience in the heart of the slate caverns.

Llechwedd glamping is perfect for family glamping holidays in Wales. It is nearby all of the Zip World attractions such as

Each glamping tent is well equipped to sleep up to four or five people with double beds & three singles. There is a private BBQ (with all the equipment provided).

This UK glamping lodge also has an ensuite and kitchen.

Bedding & towels are provided for your stay, so you don’t need to pack a huge amount, and there’s even free Wi-Fi too!

If you are looking for adventure, surf and glamping in Snowdonia, then consider the Adventure Parc, Snowdonia, North Wales.

Set in the Conwy Valley in the foothills of the Snowdonia mountains with an amazing inland surf lagoon you will find simple wooden pods offering a perfect alternative to camping. You can choose from woodland camping pods or a lagoon-side pod camping setting. 

Each pod comes with heating and plug sockets. There is a shared amenities block.

Each pod sleeps up to four guests.

3. Glamping in Surrey: Merry Harriers Shepherd Hut

Nestled in the Surrey Hills, just a stones throw away from the city of London, you will find The Merry Harriers Inn.

The Merry Harriers offers a range of boutique style accommodation, from Shepherd Huts to Inn and Garden rooms. Each style of accommodation is unique and luxurious, with something to suit everyone.

There are five Shepherd Huts, situated around a pond and overlooking fields with horses grazing in the distance.

Each Shepherd Hut is fully furnished, with a double bed, seating area, kitchen corner and log burner. There is underfloor heating, and I loved that the Shepherd Hut has a bathroom (so no trekking outside in the middle of the night). The bathroom has a walk in shower, toilet and sink with complementary toiletries and bathrobes.

Merry Harriers glamping is dog friendly too!

There are so many things in or around Hambledon with kids. The llama treks are an absolute must!

Looking for the best UK Glamping sites for families? Add Green Valley Yurts to your list

Green Valley Yurts is nestled in the heart of the Cerne Valley in Dorset. It is an area of ‘outstanding beauty’ making it the perfect location to cycle, walk, and explore the surrounding area.

The site is perfect for families kids can paddle in the stream and this coastal campsite is a short drive to the sea.

The yurts are set on a beautiful organic farm and the site boasts an onsite shop and cafe, allowing you to purchase local produce and find those little treats to enjoy during your stay.

Each Yurt is individually furnished with an eclectic mix of rustic furniture, including a double bed,  single futons, as well as cosy cushions, blankets and throws.

In the centre of each Yurt is a wood stove and the floor is covered with rush matting – so perfect for chilly evenings. The yurts sleep between 5-7 people.

Camp Katur is based on the 300-acre ‘Camp Hill Estate’ and is a magical little “off grid” glamping villlage, in North Yorkshire, located just 10 minutes off the A1 near Bedale, North Yorkshire.

You can choose from trendy Geodomes, spacious safari tents, picture perfect bell tents, unique teepees or magical hobbit pods…there are so many wonderful and unique accommodation choices to suit all your needs.

When we visited we stayed in a safari tent and it was  perfect for our family of five as it easily slept 6-8. The safari tent had 2 bunk beds, a double size bed and a further double cabin bed. Travel cots were available on request.

If you are looking for glamping with a hot tub, you will love the luxury geodoomes – built on a private deck with a BBQ, hot tub and a dining table!

Eco Retreats in Wales, an awesome UK Glamping site for families

Nestled in the heart of the forest, 25 minutes off the main road you will find Eco Retreats.

Eco Retreats is an eco friendly retreat on an organic working farm in the heart of Wales’ Dyfi forest, approximately 7 miles north-east of Machynlleth.  

When we arrived at Eco Retreats we found 5 living spaces spread out over 50 acres of land. You can choose between a yurt or a tipi, all equipped with a wood burning stove, a private eco toilet, an outdoor wood fired bath, and an eco shower.  

The site is wi-fi free so you can really get back to basics and enjoy life free from distraction. We visited in the colder months and If you haven’t thought about glamping in the Autumn/Winter definitely try it – here’s why!

The yurts are furnished beautifully with a double bed, and sofa beds for the kids. Each yurt is equipped with a two ring gas burner, kettle, saucepans, frying pan, utensils and cutlery.  There is a tap with fresh spring water outside and a water filter inside. Outside there is a private area around the yurt or tipi, with a seating and campfire area.

Best UK Glamping sites for families – Love 2 Stay, Shrewsbury.

We have visited Love2stay a number of times – we love the resort, it is perfect for families and is also dog friendly and less than an hour away from Staffordshire

Love2stay is an award winning touring and glamping site in Shrewsbury.

The resort has a fitness suite, adventure play park, barefoot sensory walk, natural swimming pool, assault course and cinedrome for family movie nights. They have thought of everything. We often visit with our T5 camper but there are glamping options too.

There are plenty of glamping options to choose from including safari lodges, woodland lodges and tents. The stunning Safari Lodges, are designed with families in mind, and offers three bedrooms – and di I mention this resort offers glamping with a private hot tub!
