There is so much to see and do in and around Staffordshire. There are so many fantastic days out for families. Don’t worry if it is raining, there are plenty of indoor activities in Staffordshire to shelter from the rain. If you love getting outside, then there are some great walks, wild swimming spots and paddleboarding locations in Staffordshire to keep you entertained. If you are looking for your nearest beach then here are our favourite beaches near to Stoke on Trent just a drive away.

This Camping and Caravanning Club Campsite sits on the edge of Cannock Chase offering great walks, cycle rides and plenty of outdoor adventure for all to enjoy.

The campsite offers level hardstanding pitches, and grass pitches. There are showers and toilets on site, washing up facilities. in addition to the endless walks and mountain bike trails, you can try your hand at Go Ape, Cannock Chase!

Leek Camping and Caravanning Club

Leek Camping and Caravanning Club campsite is located in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

The campsite is bordered by trees, offering some sheltered pitches to one side, and this site has a good range of facilities, including two facility blocks and a small play area for kids.

There are plenty of things to do nearby; The Roaches, is only a short distance away and Tittesworth Reservoir is within walking distance of the campsite and a great spot for watersports, and a favourite Staffordshire spot for launching a paddleboard.

Leek campsite is also well placed to explore the Potteries. Stoke-on-Trent, has some great days out for families to enjoy.

Chase camping at Tackeroo

This is ‘no frills’ basic campsite and open to tents, campervans and caravans with their own chemical toilets. Dogs are welcome. There is no electric hook up.

This campsite is situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Cannock Chase. A large variety of free roaming wildlife including: Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Muntjac, Tawny Owls, Barn Owls, Buzzards, Fox and Rabbits.

Alton, The Star – Camping and Caravanning Club Site

If you are looking at camping near Alton Towers Resort then this Club Site is for you.

This attractive, well maintained family-friendly campsite is just a mile from the Alton Towers theme park. 

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, is nearby offering a wide range of family friendly activities including Staffordshire water sports and SUP launch. There is a children’s play area, and fishing here too.

Stoke-on-Trent is nearby with plenty of things to do for families, including the Wedgewood Visitor Centre, Trentham Gardens and Middleport pottery.

Hales Hall Caravan and Camping

Hales Hall is a family run Holiday Park, situated in 16 acres on the edge of the Peak District. The campsite is just a short distance from the historic market town of Cheadle

Alton Towers is a large theme park and only a 10-minute drive from the campsite.

Electric hook up is available, and there are a wide range of facilities including a children’s play area, football pitch, and licensed bar and restaurant.

Hales Hall is a lovely family friendly campsite offering peace and tranquillity and camping near to Alton Towers.

Fairbroroughs Farm Caravan Site, Leek

Fairboroughs Farm is a working farm and one of the oldest farms in Staffordshire. Fairboroughs farm is situated in Leek in Staffordshire and has a range of accommodation including a self catering cottage, and camping and caravan options on this Caravan & Motorhome Club certified site.

Fairboroughs in a working sheep farm with hundreds of ewes and lambs, free range chickens and ducks and ponies, dog and a cat. The campsite is nearby the market town of Leek and offers a great place to explore further afield including Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth House, The Roaches, and Rudyard Lake.

There is also a Wedding & Events Field offering a perfect space for your Staffordshire wedding or special event.

The site offers generous sized patches with EHU, lower and toilet facilities, and well behaved dogs are welcome.

Pillaton Hall Farm

Pillaton Farm is one of our favourite locations for wild swimming and self launch paddleboard sessions, but you can also camp here!

Located in Staffordshire, the campsite offers camping with excellent facilities. There is a a children’s play area, open water activities, fishing pools, and Dottie’s Café Bar & Takeaway.

Drayton Manor – Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Drayton Manor – Camping and Caravanning Club Site is set within the grounds of Drayton Manor Resort, and is a popular campsite perfect for a family getaway. There are 90 pitches and a large facilities block, children’s play area, ball game space, and an on-site shop.

There are plenty of local Staffordshire attractions nearby including Tamworth Castle, the Ventura Retail Park and the SnowDome. Drayton Manor Resort is only a short walk to the theme park. With over 50 rides, seasonal events and a zoo which is home to over 500 animals, you will find plenty of things to see and do.

Best campsites in Staffordshire close to Stoke on Trent

Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping

Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping is very well maintained, small and friendly campsite with stunning views of the local countryside. Nestled in the heart of Staffordshire Moorlands and just 7 miles to the east of Stoke on Trent. Alton Towers Theme Park which is just a few miles down the road from the site.

There is 10-Amp electric hook-up.

Blackshaw Moor Club Campsite, Leek

This attractive campsite in Leek is a quiet campsite with spacious pitches on the southern edge of the Peak District, offering some of the most scenic views and walks in the region. An idea campsite for families who want to explore Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. Alton Towers is close by too.

Tittesworth Reservoir is just a short walk away (one of our favourite paddleboard locations!) from Blackshaw Moor Club Campsite, and the town of Leek is just 3 miles away.

The campsite is dog friendly, and has a playground for the kids. There is a dog walk on site.
