Camping Ile de Re: Camping Seasonova Ile de Ré REVIEW

Camping Ile de Re: Camping Seasonova Ile de Ré REVIEW

This is the final part of our Summer road trip in our VW campervan – Camping Ile de Re and our short stop over.  Each campsite on our road trip was unique in every way, but equally memorable and enjoyable. We had previously stayed at Domaine du Logis back in 2018 and loved it so much we said we would definitely return – it is a beautiful campsite and really convenient to the ferry ports of St Malo and Caen.

*We were provided complimentary camping for some campsites included in this roundup post. As always, these are all my own words. Also, this post contains affiliate links. Should you click to purchase, it is at no additional cost to you, but I receive a small commission.

Camping on Ile de Re: A one night stopover at Camping Seasonova Ile de Ré

I had read so much about Ile de Re and felt that I could not return to France without a short stop over here, and I can honestly say that a one day stopover really isn’t enough. We were lucky enough to meet up with our friends during our short stay and we spent a lovely chilled out afternoon at the beach before heading off to enjoy dinner in one of the many restaurants.

Ile de Ré Camping

This campsite is available to book through The Camping and Caravanning Club, who offer a great range of campsite locations, from coastal escapes to inland retreats in the UK and Europe. The Camping and Caravanning Club were really great when we were working out our France road trip itinerary. They are extremely knowledgable about all of their campsites.

The Seasonova Ile de Ré campsite is located near the beach at Portes-en-Ré, and is next to the Lilleau des Niges natural reserve. We cycled to the nearby village of Les Portes-en-Ré to find plenty of restaurants and coffee shops for the afternoon and evening.

The campsite is a really relaxed and friendly small site positioned just yards from the beach. On arrival the reception was closed so we did have to hang around for a couple of hours before we could be allocated our pitch. Once we had been shown to our grass pitch, we were able to unpack and quickly set up the camper van beds for the night before heading off to explore.

Our pitch was a decent sized grass pitch with electric hook up and just a short stroll from the amenities block – always useful when you have young children! The main paths and roads around the campsite are mainly tarmac.

Cycling on Ile de Re

This year we had purchased a bike rack to accommodate four bikes, and we had also bought along our bike seat for our three week road trip…and I am so pleased we did. Ile de Ré is 30 km long and almost completely flat. There are over 110 km of cycling paths making it a great place to explore by bike.

The cycle path started from just outside the campsite and although some areas felt busy and congested, the cycle paths are separate from the main roads, and reserved for cyclists only…therefore it felt safe with the children.

There are plenty of bike stands to allow you to leave the bikes and explore by foot. There is also cycle hire near to the campsite, but by lunchtime they were completely out of cycles so I imagine you have to be fairly quick!

Campsite facilities

There is a wash block with hot showers, toilets and washing up facilities. There is also a drying room and washing machines.

There is a very small shop for your essentials – during the Summer bread and pastries can be ordered from the reception desk.

RV camping pitches available.

WIFI is available on the campsite.

Please note there is not a swimming pool at this campsite – it is located just 200 metres from the beach …the biggest swimming pool there is 🙂
