Camping Le Clarys Plage review: Canvas Holidays

Camping Le Clarys Plage review: Canvas Holidays

We have just returned from the most wonderful holiday in France. I seem to have developed a real love affair with France over the last couple of years. I find the ferry travel really easy and stress free with the kids, and the drive just really picturesque and beautiful. With a plan this year to travel along the West coast of France in the camper van, I was genuinely looking forward to exploring a little more of France for our Summer road trip. After a stop over at Domaine du Logis, we travelled to the Vendée, where we were spending a week with Canvas Holidays at Camping Le Clarys Plage in the Saint-Jean-de-Monts. Here is our Le Clarys Plage review

Our accommodation was a Moda mobile home, with a double bed, fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning and a beautiful hot shower! After a night or two in the camper, I love nothing more than a double bed and a hot shower! I had been looking forward to visiting the Vendée in France for so long, and I can honestly say our stay at Clarys Plage with Canvas Holidays did not disappoint.

Camping Le Clarys Plage, Vendée

Le Clarys Plage is a family friendly and lively holiday parc situated in the heart of the Vendée, close to St Jean du Monts. Facilities at Clarys Plage include a wonderful water park, brand new playground, kids club, football pitch and table tennis, with the beach just a short stroll away.

The water park here is superb, and considering it was the August holidays, we had no problems with finding a sunbed around the large pool area. The waterpark had something for everyone, with waterslides, a splash pool, jacuzzi, water fountains, a lazy river, bridges, children’s paddling pool and a separate indoor/covered pool. I noticed that there were lifeguards on duty every day, and I have to say this always puts my mind at rest during peak times.

We did not utilise the kids club during this trip, but it is always nice to have the option if the kids fancied a visit.

There is also a bar terrace at Le Clarys Plage – the ice creams here are pretty special too. Although there is no shop on site, there was good sized supermarket a very short stroll off site. We popped over to the supermarket on a daily basis as it really was only a five minute walk, (or scoot for the kids) and I love nothing more than fresh bread and croissants in the mornings.

I also liked that there was an abundance of restaurants only a short walk from the campsite if you wanted to eat out…this is one of the first sites that we have stayed in France that had so much nearby without having to step foot in the camper.

Moda mobile home Canvas Holidays

Our three bedroom mobile home proved a perfect base for our week in the Vendée. The Moda mobile home is great for families with a spacious and really modern interior, a well equipped kitchen and wonderful partly covered terraced area. The mobile home was spotless on arrival. Our Moda mobile home had three bedrooms with one double bed, and two twin bedrooms, all with ample storage, a bathroom and a separate toilet. The kitchen area had a fridge freezer, gas hob, microwave, and was fully stocked with everything that we needed for our stay. Outside on the terrace was a large seating area, BBQ and and drying rack. The parking space was just in front of the mobile home adding more privacy to the area. The mobile home also had air conditioning – another great feature particularly in the height of Summer!

Things to do nearby Camping le Clarys Plage, St Jean de Monts

There are so many things to do and see near to Clarys Plage in St Jean de Monts that a week just wasn’t long enough. It didn’t take us long to discover the beautiful beaches within walking distance from Le Clarys Plage. Our favourite beach was just a 5 minute stroll or scoot (maybe ten minutes with little toddler legs). Here we spent many an hour watching the kids run wild, and experiencing the most beautiful sunsets – they were just breathtaking.

I also loved the many cycle paths around Camping Le Clarys Plage. The cycle paths offered a chance to get out on the bikes with our younger children, and to explore the area safely.

There are so many things to do near to Clarys Plage, Saint-Jean-de-Monts. Hop in the car or camper and you will find Lake Apremont, Saint-Hilaire-De-Riez and St Gilles Croix de Vie – all within half an hour away from our holiday parc and well worth a visit.

Puy du Fou is a little further, about an hour and a half from Le Clarys Plage but an incredible theme park and also worth a visit.

Getting there from the UK

We travelled from Portsmouth to Caen with Brittany Ferries, and decided to stop over for a night in Brittany before travelling to St Jean Du Monts. Nantes airport is around 47 miles away, and St Malo is around 167 miles.

Top tip! Try to use the GPS coordinates if you can, as it took us about twenty minutes to locate the site and once we had the GPS coordinates it took us straight to the entrance of the park.

Final thoughts on our week with Canvas Holidays

We had a super week and made the most incredible memories. Our friends joined us for part of our stay, and I can honestly say nothing beats spending time with friends and family in the beautiful Vendée. I had heard so many good things about the area, and it really is beautiful. There is something for everyone with stunning beaches, forests, lakes, towns and villages nearby. Our stay with Canvas holidays was superb. It is a great family friendly site and the kids loved the facilities here, including the waterpark, and play park. The Moda 3 bed mobile home was everything we needed for our week, and Clarys Plage was a perfect choice for a family holiday in the Vendée, France.
