February half term is sometimes tricky to keep kids entertained as the weather can be fairly cold and rainy and you may be looking for a little inspiration to keep kids entertained in Staffordshire on a wet day! Here are a few ideas for days out with kids and February half term events in Staffordshire.

Peak Wildlife Park
Set on the edge of the Staffordshire Peak District you will find the wonderful Peak Wildlife Park. Come up close and personal with lemurs, penguins, otters, read squirrels to name just a few! You can also book a unique and memorable animal encounter and ‘be a keeper’!

Trentham Estate
Always a firm favourite you can always rely on a visit to Trentham Estate over Feb half term!
There is so much to do for all ages at Trentham – Trentham Gardens is a great day out with kids. Take a walk around the lake, head to the adventure playground, stop by at the Trentham shops and eateries for cake and hot chocolate, or try the enhancing fairy trail to discover the famous fairies around the lake!
We purchase an animal membership and are frequent visitors to the estate. You can purchase tickets here for Feb half term entry!

Clip ‘n’ Climb
Clip ‘n’ Climb is always a winner – especially on a cold rainy day over the winter!!! Climbing is a great way to keep active and fit and Clip ‘n’ Climb Stoke is a wonderful family friendly climbing centre designed to be fun for EVERYONE regardless of ability!
The climbing sessions last for aprox 75 Minutes- and the sessions include a 15 minute safety briefing and harness fitting. The sessions are for 4 + but the family sessions can include toddlers age 2-3 years, (a non climbing adults must be present to assist).
Prices range but a family ticket for 1 adult and 2 children to climb is around £33.00

Pottery Painting
February half term is a good time to head off to one of the many places where you can paint a pot in Staffordshire – especially if it is cold and rainy!
We are huge fans of Amerton Pottery, World of Wedgwood, Emma Bridgwater Middleport pottery and Royal Stafford Ceramic cafe, who all welcome kids of all ages for pottery painting!
Middleporty Pottery are holding February half term play with clay – On 18 – 26 February 2023 10am – 4pm. Play-with-Clay Participant is £3.00 and a Membership Play-with Clay Participant is free. Book tickets here

Trentham Monkey forest
Trentham Monkey Forest closes for the winter but reopens in February 2023! If you haven’t visited before, Trentham Monkey Forest is such good family friendly day out in Staffordshire one that all the family can enjoy! The Monkey Forest is a unique family friendly attraction where you can walk amongst 140 Barbary Macaques roaming free in 60 acres of beautiful Staffordshire Forest.

National Forest Adventure Farm
The National Forest Adventure Farm is based in Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire and offers farm animals in abundance, and indoor and outdoor fun for all ages. Over the year the farm hosts a number of events including Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas events. More to follow as the 2023 events are launched! Get outside

Watch a film!
Mitchell Arts Centre is showing a number of family-friendly films during half-term including Minions: The Rise of Gru, Peppa my first cinema experience, my little pony the movie, Encanto and Gruffalo and Gruffalo’s child. What’s more, tickets cost £3.50 a child, and one adult goes free per paying child.
A cinema visit is a great thing to do over half term with kids. Cinebowl Cineworld, Odeon Vue, there are an abundance of cinemas in Staffordshire to choose from.
To keep the cost down, don’t forget the mini morning sessions at Vue Cinema. The mini morning sessions cost from £2.49/€2.99 per ticket and run every Saturday and Sunday morning from 10am, plus every day in the school holidays.

The National Memorial Arboretum has something for all ages this half term, from the Stickman outdoor trail and sensory play areas to interactive storytelling workshops. The workshops are free and running, 11am, 12pm and 1pm | 20 – 24 February 2023. Arts and crafts sessions are free Various times between 12pm and 3pm | 20 – 24 February 2023. There is a stickman indoor cinema (free) 10.15am, 1.30pm and 2.15pm | 20 – 24 February 2023. Events are free, booking is essential and car parking is £4 in advance, £6 on the day. Book tickets here
Go Ape, Cannock Chase

Go, Ape Cannock Chase is an outdoor activity centre in Staffordshire. Considered an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty here you will find nearly 1,500 metres of tree-to-tree crossings on their challenge course. The Treetop Adventure course is a one hour Staffordshire high ropes course suitable for children (and adults) over 1m tall.
Family Friendly park run
Hanley park run, is a free, family friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you! It is on every saturday at 9 am and takes place at Hanley Park just off Cleveland Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 4DX. Visit the course page for more details and to register.
Trentham Gardens park run is a feee 5K community event for all the family held ever Saturday at 9 am taking place at Trentham Gardens, Trentham Estate, Stone Road, Trentham, Stoke-On-Trent, ST4 8JG. Don’t forget to register!
Free things to do with kids
Don’t forget entertaining kids over half term doesn’t have to cost the earth. There are so many free things to do in Staffordshire, from family friendly walks, a scoot in the park, family friendly bike rides, or a free visit to a museum. Head out for a walk with kids, explore, craft and create some free outdoor activities that all the family can enjoy!
There are some great family friendly parks in Staffordshire Cannock Chase Forest, Wolseley Centre, Brampton Park, Westport Lake, Beacon Park, Victoria Park, Phoenix Park name just a few.
