GreenWood Family Park review (formerly GreenWood Forest Park)

GreenWood Family Park Review

GreenWood Family Park (previously called GreenWood Forest Park) is a brilliant day out with kids and has been included in our post listing the top things to do in North Wales with kids. As I mentioned before, we have visited North Wales for years and always spend time here each Summer. We often stay in Abersoch, Abergele, Plas Weuyndd, or one of our top family friendly campsites in North Wales. This weekend we were staying just down the road in Abergele, and GreenWood is a perfect location and just a 35 minute drive along the A55.

GreenWood Family Park rides and attractions

There are some awesome rides and attractions here including Solar Splash, Green Dragon Family Roller Coaster and Forest Glider. It can sometimes be difficult to keep all of our children happy when we visit family friendly attractions due to their different ages, but I can honestly say everyone loved it here.

Green Dragon Family Roller Coaster is the world’s only people powered coaster and was a firm favourite. So much so we went on this one multiple times. Hop on a whizz around the 250 metre track through the woods with a 360 degree horizontal loop round the hill and through the woods.  For this ride children need to be at least 100cm to ride the roller coaster. I loved that there really wasn’t much of a queue either, queuing for hours on end can spoil the experience for me, but the most we had to queue was about ten minutes. Joint favourite with the Green Dragon Roller Coaster was the Solar splash. We also went on this one multiple times throughout the day. Solar Splash is the first solar powered ride in the UK, with a massive water slide with two orange wave chutes and an additional yellow chute (be warned you may get a little wet!)

There is also plenty of other favourite rides and attractions including Moon Karts, TreeTop Towers, giant jumper, archery, Dragon Maze, Enchanted river ride, and an animal petting area, to name just a few!

GreenWood Family Park in the rain

Don’t worry if it rains, as GreenWood stays open whatever the weather! There is no such thing as bad weather, just a bad choice of clothing right? and if you forget your coat GreenWood Family Park have ponchos and wellies for use free of charge!

There are plenty of places to take shelter if you need to but if the rain is persistent GreenWood have introduced a wet weather guarantee – meaning that if there is more than 2 hours of recorded consistent rainfall, you can return within 28 days – absolutely free!

GreenWood Family Park review

Is GreenWood Family Park dog friendly?

Absolutely! Well behaved dogs are allowed onto the park (they must be kept on a short lead). All dogs must be supervised at all times. Dogs (with the exception of Guide & Assistance Dogs) are not permitted in the Woodbarn Cafe & Play. It is quite sheltered under the trees too so plenty of shady areas for dogs, plus there is little dog water bowls dotted around and an opportunity to purchase a dog ice cream too.

What age is GreenWood family park suitable for?

I think if your children are between the age of about 3 and 13 then GreenWood is perfect. There were plenty of areas for the younger children and plenty for older children including the biggest kids of all – the adults! We all had a brilliant day.

How long do you need at Greenwood Family Park?

We arrived at 10 am just as the park opened and left around 3, although in all honesty the kids could have happily stayed longer. There are plenty of rides and attractions and the kids wanted to return to some of their favourites over and over again.

GreenWood Family Park – Final thoughts

We all loved it! What an awesome day out full of outdoor adventure and fresh air – not to mention time away from the screens!

We spent the full day here in the Summer holidays and it was a brilliant family day out. I love that dogs are welcome too, as dogs are part of a family and often on their holidays too – we don’t want to have to leave our fur babies at home.

So there you have our GreenWood Family Park review for 2024. We honestly LOVED it – particularly the Green Dragon Family Roller Coaster and Solar Splash. There is plenty to keep all the family entertained and we will most definitely return.
